On Extempore, instructors have the option to both copy and duplicate a question. Yes, these words have very similar meanings, but they play different roles on Extempore. Let's start with copying a question.

How to copy a question on Extempore

The copy question button is similar to the copy assessment or copy class button already found on Extempore. When instructors click the copy question icon within the assessment page, they will be given the option of producing another copy that they can add to any other assessment within their account.

Step 1. Open any assessment. Scroll down to find the list of questions. Click the copy icon on the question you would like to copy.

Step 2. A popup will open to copy the question. First, choose the class to which you would like to copy this question. Then, select the corresponding assessment. Finally, give the question a new name and click copy.

Upon completion, you will be redirected to the assessment you selected, where you can make any additional changes as needed.

Duplicating a question on Extempore

Compared to copying a question to a different assessment, duplicating a question immediately reproduces that question (including all media and attached files) within the same assessment it is held. To duplicate a question, follow the steps below.

Step 1. Open a question within an assessment. Click the duplicate icon to reproduce that question.

The question will be duplicated and added to the end of your assessment. You will then be taken to that new question, where you can edit and make any changes as desired. Once you are finished, click save and close to confirm your changes.
