Within Extempore, there are a few different ways student accounts are created. This primarily depends on whether the district is using Extempore with an LMS/SIS, Google Classroom integration, or if they are not using an integration with Extempore.
| Account Creation Type | Explanation |
Google Classroom | Automatic | Instructors syncs Google Classroom with Extempore, creates assignment, and students are considered enrolled in Extempore after connecting to the first assessment from Google Classroom. |
LMS/SIS Integration | Automatic | Student accounts provisioned after Extempore is synchronized with your LMS. This step is handled by District Admins and the Extempore Team. |
Non-Integrated Account | Manual | Instructors share the enrollment URL with students where students will create a new account via username and password or with Google SSO. |
Google Classroom Integration - Enrolling Students
Student accounts will be provisioned automatically after the following steps are taken by the instructor.
Synchronize Google Classroom and Extempore
Students will show as "pending" on the Extempore roster until step #4 below.
Create or Import the first individual assessment within Extempore
The assessment will automatically synchronize to Google Classroom once created.
As soon as students connect to the first individual assessment they will move from "pending" to "active" within the Extempore roster.
LMS/SIS Integrations - Enrolling Students
Different than Google Classroom, instructors are not responsible for synchronizing their own classes for LMS and SIS integrations. All student accounts are created automatically. This step is handled by the district admin and the Extempore team. There are no steps for instructors other than logging in to their own account.
Roster changes should be communicated to district admins to make the change within the LMS.
Newly rostered students within the LMS or SIS will automatically synchronize to Extempore every 24 hours at midnight.
Non-Integrated Account - Enrolling Students
Before student can create an Extempore account, please note the following:
Students must have the class enrollment link shared by an Extempore instructor.
Students who log in via Google Classroom or another LMS will automatically have an Extempore account created upon accessing an assessment on Extempore.
