Student Can't See a Class? It's Probably Archived

If a student signs in but can't find their class, it's likely been archived by the teacher. Learn why this happens and how to restore access.

If a student doesn't see a class they're expecting when they sign in, the most likely reason is that the teacher has archived it. Extempore now makes this clear at sign-in, so students—and the support teams helping them—know what's going on instead of assuming the class has disappeared.

Important: archived classes aren't accessible to students

Archiving a class removes it from the student's active class list. This new message only helps students understand why a class isn't showing—it doesn't restore their access to archived classes or past work. Archived classes remain view-only for teachers and admins.

If a student still needs access to the class

If the student should still be in the class, the teacher can restore it. See Archive and restore a class.

Teachers and admins can still review submissions from archived classes. See How to access student work in archived and active classes.

If the student never joined the class in the first place, confirm they're enrolled. See Enrolling and creating student accounts.
