Sequential Mode on Extempore forces students to answer every question in an assessment sequentially. That is, upon submitting a response, a student is automatically taken to the next question to continue responding. (This is opposed to when sequential mode is off, and students return back to the question tiles and can select which question they want to answer next.
Here's how it works
Using Sequential Mode on Extempore
To active sequential mode on Extempore, click on an assessment to edit it. From there, click yes next to Sequential Mode to activate this feature within your assessment.
Students viewing an assessment in Sequential Mode
When sequential mode is on, students will be prompted with an outline of the questions and their parameters before they begin the assessment. This can be seen in the sample below.
Likewise, upon entering an assessment, the student will now see their current question number and how many remain at the top of the screen. The submit button now displays as submit and next.
FAQ
What happens if a student closes their browser during the assessment?
In this case, students will be able to restart the assessment where they left off and continue with the remaining questions.
What happens if a student gets locked out of a question?
Similar to the above, students will be able to continue with the remaining questions; the locked question can be unlocked by the teacher to allow the student to respond to the locked question again.
