Use this when you need to move a student between rooms in an asynchronous room-based assessment—even after a student has submitted—without impacting other students’ submissions.
When you should use this
You need to move a student to a different room.
You need to remove a student from a room.
The room appears locked (lock icon shown) and changes are blocked.
Important behavior (asynchronous rooms)
You can temporarily unlock a room to make roster changes.
Moving/removing a student should not delete or impact other students’ submissions in the room.
Only the moved/removed student’s room membership is updated.
Steps: unlock a room and move a student
Open the assessment and navigate to Manage Rooms.
Find the room you want to edit.
Click the lock icon to temporarily unlock the room.
Open the student menu (⋮) and select Move to.
Choose the destination room and confirm.
(Optional) Click the lock icon again to re-lock the room.
Notes
If you still cannot move a student after unlocking, refresh the page and try again.
If the student should be removed instead of moved, follow the same unlock workflow and use the remove option (if available) from the student menu.
