If your Google Classroom classes are not appearing in Extempore, start with these quick checks first. In most cases, one of these is the cause.

Quick checks (most common)

  1. Confirm you’re signed into the correct Google account

    • In Extempore, make sure you’re logging in with the same school/district Google account that teaches/owns the Google Classroom courses.

  2. Make sure the class is Active in Google Classroom (not archived)

    • Archived/inactive courses may not appear when you sync.

  3. Check whether the class was archived in Extempore

    • In Extempore, open your profile menu and look for Archived classes. If you find the class there, restore it and sync again.

  4. Reconnect Google Classroom permissions (if needed)

    • If you didn’t allow all permissions during the original Google authorization (or permissions changed later), disconnect and reconnect Google so you can re‑authorize and make sure all permissions are checked.

If you’ve confirmed the items above and the class still isn’t showing, continue to the next section. One less common cause is that the Class code is disabled in Google Classroom.

Fix: Enable the Class code in Google Classroom

If the Class code (invite link) is turned off/hidden, Extempore may not detect the class during sync.

  1. Open the class in Google Classroom.

  2. Click the gear icon (⚙️) in the top-right corner to open Class settings.

  3. Find the Class code section.

  4. Make sure the Class code is visible/enabled (not turned off).

  5. Return to Extempore and sync your Google Classroom classes again.

Once the Class code is enabled, the class should appear in Extempore.
