Written by Sam Slagle

What's Ask Tempo?

Ask Tempo is a chat tool that helps teachers develop high-quality ideas and prompts for assessments and practice in Extempore. Describe what your students are learning and the kind of task you need, then review Tempo’s response before using it with your class. These assessments can then be imported directly into a user's account to use with their students.

Accessing Ask Tempo

How do I use Ask Tempo?

Within the message bar, ask Tempo to create a prompt for you. When composing your request, be sure to include important information like...

  • Language

  • Level

  • Mode of communication (interpersonal, interpretive, presentational)

  • Content area (i.e., hobbies, greetings, food, school, etc.)

Here's an example of what that might look like:

Note how the example above includes the target language (French), desired level (intermediate low), mode of communication (presentational writing), and a relevant content area (summer activities).

If you don't provide this information, Tempo will ask you to clarify. Save time by giving Tempo all the details up front. Templates are provided for some of the most popular prompts, including Presentational Speaking, Interpersonal Speaking, and Interpretive Reading.
