Navigation Warnings: Alerts When Leaving an Assessment

When enabled, Extempore warns students if they attempt to navigate away from an assessment before finishing it.

What are navigation warnings?

If a student navigates away from their Extempore browser during a single-attempt question, they will be prompted with a Navigation Warning when they return to Extempore. Students must acknowledge the warning to proceed. Navigation Warnings are one feature of Safe Mode.

Once a student submits their response, a count of how many times they left the page will appear in the teacher's gradebook

How to Enable Safe Mode (Navigation Warnings)

Follow the steps below:

  1. Click your username in the top-right corner, then select Preferences from the drop-down menu.

  2. Check the box next to Enable Safe Mode. The features listed above are now applied to any single-attempt question you assign.
