What's Ask Tempo?

Ask Tempo is a messaging tool where teachers can chat with Tempo, our mascot, to get high-quality ideas for assessments and practice. These assessments can then be imported directly into a user's account to use with their students.

Accessing Ask Tempo

You can access Ask Tempo through your main classes page. At the top menu, click the purple box labeled Ask Tempo.

Your browser will open a new tab and you can begin chatting with Tempo.

How do I use Ask Tempo?

Within the message bar, ask Tempo to create a prompt for you. When composing your request, be sure to include important information like...

  • Language

  • Level

  • Mode of communication (interpersonal, interpretive, presentational)

  • Content area (i.e. hobbies, greetings, food, school, etc.)

Here's an example of what that might look like:

Note how the example above includes target language (French), desired level (intermediate low), mode of communication (presentational writing), and a relevant content area (summer activities).

If you don't provide this information, Tempo will ask you to clarify. So save some time and give Tempo all the details!

Using Templates

Within Ask Tempo, templates are also provided to facilitate quick chats. Click on a template to create a sample message. Then, replace [insert...] with the information corresponding to your needs.

Understanding the Ask Tempo Side Panel

Once you begin your first thread with Tempo, your conversations will all be on the side panel on the left side of the screen. Use the arrow icon ⬅️ in the top left corner to open and close the side panel. Use the conversation bubble 💬 to begin a new thread. Finally, use the three dot icon to rename or delete threads.

Renaming threads can be handy for remembering previous conversation topics, or starting a conversation and resuming it later. Give it a try!
