Attaching Extempore Assignments to Canvas Modules: A Step-by-Step Guide

In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps to attach Extempore assignments to your Canvas modules. This will allow you to integrate your Extempore activities seamlessly into your Canvas learning pathway. Please note that this is an optional step for districts using Modules. By default, Extempore assignments will sync to the assignments section of Canvas.


โ€‹Step 1: Create Assignment in Extempore


Begin by creating your assignment in Extempore. Here's how you can do this:

  1. Log in to your Extempore account.

  2. Navigate to the class where you want to create the assignment.

  3. Click on "New Assignment" at the top of the page.

  4. Fill in the assignment details, such as name, instructions, due date, and grading criteria.

  5. Add questions to the assignment

  6. Once you're done, click "Save"

Step 2: Go to Canvas

After creating the assignment in Extempore, it's time to head over to Canvas:

  1. Log in to your Canvas account.

  2. Navigate to the course where you want to attach the Extempore assignment to a Module.

Step 3: Attach an Assignment to a Module

Next, you'll need to attach the Extempore assignment to a module in Canvas:

  1. Within your course, find the module you want to attach the assignment to.

  2. Click on the "Plus" icon (+) in the module's title bar.

  3. Select the Extempore Assignment(s) to attach and "Add Item"

Your Extempore assignment is now attached to your Canvas module. Students can access and complete the assignment directly from Canvas, providing a streamlined learning experience.
