SYNC group assessments involve pairs or groups of students joining a virtual room (similar to Google Meet or Zoom) from their own devices at the same time in order to respond to a prompt.

Step 1: Open the active Group Assessment

Step 2: Enter the Waiting Room

  • Read the assessment description.

  • Speak into your microphone to verify it is working. Check your camera, too. If you have any issues, click to access the troubleshooting steps. You must have a working camera to participate in a SYNC Group Assessment.

  • Wait for your partner to join the waiting room.

  • DO NOT enter the room until your partner has a green dot next to their name.

  • Click Go To Room. Students should proceed to the room at the same time.

  • If you don't see your group members, please stay patient and wait at least one minute for their signal to turn green.

  • If you cannot see yourself in the preview window, troubleshoot here.

Step 3: During the Assessment

  • You should see and hear your partner.

  • Read the prompt and complete the assignment with your partner(s) during the allotted time. There is no option to restart.

  • Use the toolbar underneath your video to mute, turn off your camera, raise your hand for help, submit your response, or hide self view.

Step 4: Completing the Assessment

Click submit only when you have finished the task. The recording will be processed and sent to your instructor.

Leaving vs. Submitting

When there are two or more students in a room at a given time, the option to leave room will be present on the screen. Students can leave the room and rejoin as long as the response has not been submitted.

Once only one student remains, however, the option to submit will appear. Once a student clicks submit, the response will be submitted to the instructor and the room will be closed.
