As you get ready for the new school year, use the checklist below to confirm Extempore is enabled in ClassLink and ready for teachers and students.
Before you start
ClassLink setup is handled directly by the district admin within ClassLink. You do not need to schedule an Edlink onboarding call or collect sharing rules for standard ClassLink setup — Extempore connects to ClassLink for both single sign-on (SSO) and rostering, so once the steps below are complete, teachers and students will be able to log in and their classes will begin syncing automatically.
Add Extempore in ClassLink
Log into ClassLink and go to the Management Console.
Go to Applications, then Add & Assign Apps.
Click the blue App Library button.
Search for Extempore.
Select the Extempore app.
Click Add.
Search for the Extempore app again.
Select Assign.
Assign the app based on your district's preferred access rules.
Enable Extempore in ClassLink Roster Server
Go to the ClassLink Roster Server app and sign in.
Select App from the top navigation.
Click + Add.
Search for Extempore.
Click + Add when you find the Extempore app.
Once the app is added, toggle it to enabled.
What happens next
After Extempore receives confirmation that your ClassLink district has connected, we'll create or update your district setup on our end and run a full sync. Rostering data (teachers, students, and classes) typically syncs within a day of enabling the app in Roster Server.
Once the sync completes, teachers and students will be able to SSO into Extempore directly through their ClassLink LaunchPad — there's no separate Extempore account needed.
Before the first day of school
We recommend completing this checklist at least a few days before the school year starts, so there's time for the sync to finish and for teachers to confirm their classes and rosters look correct before assigning any assessments.
Confirm at least one teacher can log into Extempore via ClassLink LaunchPad.
Confirm that teacher's classes and student rosters appear correctly in Extempore.
If a class or student is missing, double check assignment/access rules in the ClassLink Management Console — Extempore can only sync what's been assigned to the app.
Note: Extempore's ClassLink integration syncs rostering and SSO only. It does not sync grades — teachers will enter and manage grades directly within Extempore.
